Information for Parents on Education and Training in 2009

In the September school holidays all parents of Year 10 and Year 11 students will be sent a brochure, Information for Parents on Education and Training in 2009: The Choices Just Got Better [PDF 1.3MB].  This will provide some answers to the questions you may have about the changes.

Your Guide to 09

On 30 June 2008, the Premier launched a new guide which will give students more detail about new post-year 10 options available next year.  Your Guide to 09 provides a clear picture of the opportunities and programs available at the Tasmanian Academy, Tasmanian Polytechnic and Training Tasmania.

In May, all Year 10 students will be given information about their education and training options for 2009. This will be followed by information on the available courses in June.

The booklet provides the kind of information that will help students and their families to start thinking about choices for next year including:

  • The enrolment options in 2009 which include: the Tasmanian Polytechnic; the Tasmanian Academy;
    Training Tasmania (interim title); and senior secondary colleges (in some regions)
  • What can be achieved through the different enrolment options
  • Where each of the different enrolment options will be available throughout the state
     

Tasmania Tomorrow Educational Programs Discussion Paper

This set of discussion papers has been published to stimulate and generate discussions and feedback regarding teaching and learning models in the new organisations being established under the Tasmania Tomorrow initiative.  Senior management from each of the colleges and TAFE will organise processes for groups of staff to consider and discuss the papers, and provide feedback.  Individuals can also respond to the discussion papers by emailing tomorrow@education.tas.gov.au or telephoning 1800 469 997.

Consultation Reponse

Consultation Response November 2007 [PDF 490KB]

On 15 November 2007, the Minister for Education announced his response to the consultation process for the Tasmania Tomorrow initiative. The response summarises the main messages that emerged from the consultation phase and provides clarity regarding the way forward.
